Statues

In Chinese tradition the cult of the ancestors consisted in worshipping the departed spirits before the ancestral tablets or statues set up on an altar in the house. Offerings of food, incense and Buddhist prayers were made in their honour as a sign of filial piety. In return, the family was expecting protection and blessings.
