Hong Merchant of Australia
The Hong Merchants were employees of the "Hong System" by which the Chinese Government
regulated all trade between China and Western Nations from the mid 18th Century until 1842.

Bruno Seguin opened Hong Merchant of Australia in Sydney in April
2003
to begin a unique Art & Antique trade concept. Precious art
pieces, modern paintings and rare furniture spanning 2000 years of
Asian culture are sourced according to their uniqueness,
aesthetics and quality and displayed in situ within the rooms
of an historic Sydney mansion.

Particular Asian artists have been selected whose paintings express
new tendencies, but remain in harmony with traditional aspects of the
Chinese culture. International contemporary artists are also featured.

Hong Merchant has already proven this concept a success.
Other beautiful residences displaying these specialised pieces are
"Chateau William" in Bangkok, "Xing Guo Lu" in Shanghai and
"Chateau Beaupré" in the south of France.

Each house is managed by an elite group of specialists known and respected for their knowledge and passion of Asian Art and Antiquities. This group hand-selects all the fine pieces which can be discovered in the Hong Merchant homes. These experts
comprise of a world recognised archaeologist Pia Pierre, founder of the concept 25 years ago in Bangkok, anthropologist - sinologist, and collectors.

Director of Hong Merchant of Australia, Bruno Seguin, is a French collector with a passion for Chinese art & furniture. This is based on a thorough appreciation of the culture through his close work with the above mentioned experts. Bruno takes pride in all the pieces he shows and especially pursues the superior quality and authenticity of each item chosen for the various Hong Merchant exhibitions held in Sydney.

Using the expertise and experience of the world wide Hong Merchant
network, we are able to source specialised art and antique pieces
upon request.
